Quartz crucibles are critical for growing single-crystal silicon. The process begins by filling the quartz crucible with high-purity polycrystalline silicon. This material is then heated to approximately 1500°C, where it melts and can be drawn into single crystals using a pulling device. This high-temperature resistance and excellent heat preservation properties of the quartz crucible ensure the integrity and quality of the silicon crystal.

Types of Quartz Crucibles


Arc Quartz Crucibles: Primarily used for the Czochralski method to produce monocrystalline silicon. These crucibles are designed to withstand the stringent conditions required for growing single crystals.

Mold Filling: Quartz powder is filled into a mold, with natural quartz powder forming the outer layer and higher purity synthetic silica glass powder forming the inner layer, creating a robust two-layer structure.

Melting and Vitrification: The quartz powder is subjected to high temperatures, causing it to melt and vitrify, forming a solid, glass-like structure.

Finishing: The crucible is then rinsed with high-pressure water to remove any residual quartz powder from the outer surface. The rim is trimmed to the specified height, and further washing ensures cleanliness.

Dimensional Inspection: Each crucible undergoes thorough inspection for thickness, weight, and external diameter to ensure it meets precise specifications.

Cleaning: Both the internal and external surfaces are cleaned with acid, followed by a rinse with pure water and thorough drying to remove any impurities.
